it is common in english to ask people about their holidays. in the west many families go away on holiday during the summer months and so it is very usual to ask about this. if the holiday has not yet taken place，then their holiday plans can be talked about. and if it is already over，then where they went，whether they enjoyed it and so on can be discussed. similar questions are asked before festivals and pubic holidays.

foreigners living and working in china often have frequent opportunities for travel，either at weekends or during their holiday periods，so questions on this topic can often lead to fruitful discussions. they may be particularly interested to hear comments on which places are worth visiting and why，especially if these places are a little less well known and not clearly described in the tour guides.

i have several foreign friends. according to them and their friends, they assume chinese people have certain characteristics. firstly, chinese people are smart. we can product many well known brands and are good at imitating. secondly, although chinese food is delicious, most chinese seem to be fond of spicy food especially. also, chinese people are rich enough to afford many expensive products.

as a matter of fact, most foreigners are fantastic by chinese people for both their modesty and arrogance. wish we can do better to impress positively in the global stage.

yesterday, i went to a region to buy train tickets. when i was about to leave, i saw a foreigner come in. i thought he could speak chinese, but then i knew he met some troubles. he wanted to take a bus to hongkong and all he has was a paper that time, bus destination and destination were written. the problem was that there were four bus station in hongkong, the ticket seller did not know which one he was to go. therefor, i decided to help him. he wanted to the downtown of hongkong, but he did not know which bus destination is in the downtown. so i asked the ticket seller about the information of bus stations. and then the foreigner ask several questions about time, bus station and others. the ticket seller explained to me and then i translated for them. finally, he got his ticket. he was so happy that i can help. so did i.
