虚词弱读
虚词为介词冠词代词连词等 be动词，助动词，情态动词等。
练习：
1）Tyler’s his best friend, right?
his /hɪz/可弱读成/ɪz/
2）She just got back at him by hooking up with Tyler.
she /ʃi:/ 弱读为 /ʃi/；
just /dʒʌst/ 弱读为 /dʒəst/；
at /æt/弱读为/ət/；
him /hɪm/弱读为/ɪm/
She just go(t) back︶at︶him by hooking︶up with Tyler.

1. Word’s going round that…
1）同位语: 就是指一个句子中有两个部分，说法不同，但其实是一回事。
例句1：You guys are great.
你们这伙人太棒啦。
（you 和 guys是同一群人，即同位语。）
同位语常常以插入语形式出现。
例句2：Tom，the tallest boy in my class, is my best friend.
汤姆，我们班最高的男生，是我最好的朋友。
2）同位语从句：Word’s going round (that) Kate’s seeing Tyler now.
That引导的从句“Kate’s seeing Tyler now.”整个做word的同位语，用来说明流言蜚语的具体内容。
例句3：I have this feeling (that) he doesn’t like me much.
我有种感觉，他不怎么喜欢我:
例句4：My impression (that) they didn't get on too well was wrong.
我觉得他们相处不来，但并非如此。
2. I thought she was still dating Ken?
引语结构的时态：
对话改变了Colin的看法，因此主句使用一般过去时I thought.
而从句的“She was still dating Ken”是Colin所思所想的内容，和“thought”这个动作的时间是一致的，也使用一般过去时。
3. Well Tyler’s his best friend, right?
1）在这个上下文中，Gina所问的right，并不是要向colin确认Tyler是不是Ken最好的朋友，而只是要去确认Colin知道这事。
2）如何礼貌地回复这种类型的“…, right？”
本身知情：Yeah. / Yes. (直接回复I know显得有些傲慢)
本身不知情：He is? / Really? (表达刚刚知晓的惊讶)
4. Didn’t I just say he was cheating on her the whole time? How can you take his side?
1）反问句：Didn’t I just say he was cheating on her the whole time?
在脱离语境的时候确实有可能是指Gina忘记自己有没有告诉过Colin上述事实，但是结合语境，Gina其实不是真的在发问，而是对于自己说的话没起到效果感到生气。像这样的无疑而问、表达情绪，是反问句很常用的用法。
2）How can you… ？– 表达震惊、失望等
(How can you take his side: you can’t take his side. 你可不能这样，不该这样支持Ken。)
